Memory pool (mempool) is a critical component in blockchain networks within the Web3 ecosystem. It functions as a temporary storage area for pending transactions before they are added to a block and confirmed on the blockchain. Transactions in the mempool are awaiting validation and consensus by network nodes. Miners or validators select transactions from the mempool to include in the next block during the blockchain's consensus process. The mempool ensures transaction ordering and helps in managing network congestion, providing a crucial mechanism for transaction processing in Web3 systems.
